Fish Mix

This isn't really a meal made ahead, but it is a tasty snack, especially for kids, and it can be kept in the freezer to keep it fresher longer. It doesn't really need to thaw too much, but the peanuts will be c-c-cold!

3 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp garlic powder
4 cups Cheerios
1 1/2 cups lightly salted peanuts
2 1/2 cups Goldfish pretzels
2 cups Cheddar Goldfish*

Oven directions: Heat oven to 250°F. In large bowl, mix Cheerios, nuts, and pretzels (do not add the Cheddar Goldfish yet); set aside. In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in cereal mixture until evenly coated. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Mix in the Cheddar Goldfish after baking. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.

Microwave directions: In large microwavable bowl, mix Cheerios, nuts, and pretzels (do not add the Cheddar Goldfish yet); set aside. In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 25 seconds or until melted. Stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Mix in the Cheddar Goldfish after cooking. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

*I suppose you could add the Cheddar Goldfish crackers with the rest of the cereal at the beginning. I personally felt they had enough flavor to them that they didn't need the additional seasoning.

I love how the Cheerios look like the fish are blowing bubbles! You could use any flavor Goldfish cracker in this mix, except maybe the new grahams. Or add pretzel sticks for "fishing poles."
