And since we had 5 ladies, we did 5 recipes. Our total cost went up, but our cost per meal stayed about the same. It came to about $34 for each family. Some of the smaller families were actually able to get two meals out of some of the recipes. Like me- I split my Bangkok Chicken and my Stuffed Shells into two meals. So I got 7 meals for $34. Can't beat that. Even buying something frozen at the grocery store to have on hand in an emergency will usually cost more than $5.
It took about 2.5 hours to put our meals together and that included time out to nurse a baby (one of us) and break up fights among the toddlers (all of us). This bigger kids are back in school now; nice because there aren't as many kids under foot, but bad because they tend to be helpful with the littler ones.
I didn't take any pictures today, but I had previously taken pictures of the Bangkok Chicken and the Stuffed Shells so click on those links if you want to see the final product.
We set a date to cook again in September but we still need to decide on recipes. I'll post 'em as soon as we decide.
